Universal Healthcare Vs. Public Healthcare - 912 Words
For everyone around the world, health is shown to be the most important thing but difficult to obtain. In trying to give healthcare everyone in a country, an idea which I saw a lot of countries thought about was Universal Healthcare. A system in which the government in a country provides healthcare to every individual. From this system what I notice the government does is provide assistance to its citizens insuring they do not need to think about insuring themselves with a private or public healthcare, however, the same one everyone in the country is using. The great thing about universal healthcare is it can ensure every citizen s of a country can get helped. In today s world as money is what everyone needs to have, a situation gets shown. A threat gets shown whether people could be treated or not upon what they have. Seeing this problem as many countries try to form affordable way to assist people where the idea of money gets not seen as a problem it gets illustrated how due to how many people there are countries still face the struggle of dealing with money. The great things that I believe universal health care could lead to is provide healthcare benefits to all persons in specific region with a basic cover in which its inhabitants can find something affordable in which individuals can take care of themselves. Upon this plan it is not just so people could afford healthcare however, along with oneââ¬â¢s coverage they can get anything from their healthcare they want. The Homeland Security And Homeland Defense Missions
Introduction The homeland security and homeland defense missions were developed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Designed to fill gaps in intelligence sharing to defend against or response to terror attacks. This paper will discuss the future success of the current homeland security and homeland defense missions. It will also look into the role civil liberties plays in that success. Discussion The missions held by homeland security and homeland defense are vital to the protection of the country against acts of terror. While relatively young programs, much has been achieved in the homeland security and homeland defense missions. To continue this success, the programs must evolve as the world evolves, and more specifically, the terrorists. To stay relevant, the Department of Homeland Security, its subordinate agencies, and the Department of Defense must evolve with the threats in a way that does not impede on civil liberties. The topic of civil liberties and intelligence collection creates significant political debate and often threatens to derail intelligence collection process. In a reply to the Governor of Pennsylvania, Benjamin Franklin said ââ¬Å"[t]hey who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safetyâ⬠. (1755, p. 255) While there is debate on what Benjamin Franklin meant in this quote, there is no doubt tha t it is use by many to argue against the collection of data from United States citizens.Show MoreRelatedU.s. Chapter 1: Introduction The effects of video game on the study habit and behavior of Don Boscoââ¬â¢s High School Students. Is playing video games good or bad for Bosconians? It can be both. Video games are frowned upon by our parents as time-wasters, and worse, some education experts think that these games corrupt the brain. The media and some experts easily blame violent video games as the reason why some young people become violent or commit extreme anti-social behavior. But many scientists and psychologists find that video games can actually have many benefits ââ¬â the main one is making the young smart. Video games may actually teach bosconians high-level thinking skills that we may need in the future. Video games change your brain, according to University of Wisconsin psychologist C. Shawn Green. Playing video games change the brainââ¬â¢s physical structure the same way as we are learning to read, playing the piano, or navigating using a map. Much like exercise, it can build brain muscles, the powerful combination of concentration and rewarding surges of neurotransmitters like dopamine strengthen neural circuitps that can build the brain. Some positive effect includes that it gives the brain a real workout. It is a common notion to us bosconians that in most video games, the skills that require us to win the game involve abstract and high level thinking. These skills are not even taught at Don Bosco schools. We made several brief interviews and forum with my fellow bosconians about the issue and Some of the mental skills enhanced by video games include: Following instructions, Problem solving and logic, Hand-eye coordination, fine motor and spatial skills, Planning, Resource management and Logistics The player learns to manage resources that are limited, and decide the best use of resources, the same way as in real life. This skill is honed such as Multitasking, Simultaneous tracking of many shifting variables and Managing multiple objectives. Likewise in strategy games, Quick thinking, Making Fast analysis and Decisions, Accuracy, Strategy and Anticipation. Video Games for us bosconians, also initiates Situational awareness, Developing Reading and Math skills, Perseverance, Pattern recognition, Estimating skills, Inductive reasoning and Hypothesis testing, Mapping, Memory, Concentration, Improved ability to rapidly and Accurately Recognize Visual information, Reasoned judgments, Taking risks, How to respond to challenges, How to respond to frustrations, How to explore and rethink goals, Teamwork and cooperation when played with others, Management, Simulation, real world skills. Bosconian Gamers are not necessarily drawn to video games because of their violence. The attraction lies in their being rewarded by awesome displays of explosions, fireworks, and yes, blood splattering. Also, violent games have the most emotional appeal for some, But these factors are only secondary to what we actually enjoy in these games the opportunity to develop and master skills and have the freedom to make choices in the game universe. On the other hand, Most of the bad effects of video games are blamed on the violence they contain. Some others who play excessive violent video games are more likely to have increased aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and decreased prosocial helping, according to a scientific study (Anderson Bushman, 2001). Too much video game playing makes some socially isolated. Also, Some bosconian may tend to spend less time in other activities such as doing homework, reading, sports, and interacting with the family and friends. Also, Some video games teach kids the wrong values. Violent behavior, vengeance and aggression are rewarded. Negotiating and other nonviolent solutions are often not options. Women are often portrayed as weaker characters that are helpless or sexually provocative. Some say Games can confuse reality and fantasy. Academic achievement may be negatively related to over-all time spent playing video games. Video games may also have bad effects on some bosconianââ¬â¢s health, including obesity, video-induced eye illness. and postural, muscular and skeletal disorders, such as tendonitis, nerve compression, carpal tunnel syndrome. As Bosconians, we recommend that parents can contribute to help monitor video game play schedule the same way they need to monitor television and other media for those game addicts. We support family and socialization between our co-bosconians thru sports and other non-technology based recreation. But Parents and relatives need to provide quality time. We need a Loving, Attentive parent who discipline every teen well. An aggressive teen may be more a product of dysfunctional parenting than anything else, including violent games and TV. Our Parents and Guardians may Limit the amount of time we could play and also use the video game ratings to limit the content of the games have children who do better in school and also get into fewer fights. Monitor the effect of video games on your child. Introduce more helpful ways to make each free hour productive to us bosconians. Activities that can consistently indulge our curiosity through sports, artistic creativity, music, other skills that can hone us to be a better person and be an example to fellow bosconians. Activities that are competitive and may incur rewards as equal to rewards in video games. A real Bosconian knows how to differ Good from Bad. We know in our hearts that we may be judged by the choices we make. So why should anyone be a game addict anyway? Research Question What are the effects of video games on the study habits and behavior of the High School Students in Don Bosco Technical Instittute ââ¬â Makati? Significance of the Study This study will be made so that we may identify the effects of video games on the students of Don Bosco Makati. This research may help inform or educate people on the effects of video games. Review of Related Literature In their research paper, ââ¬Å"The effects of violent video game habits on adolescent hostility, aggressive behaviors, and school performanceâ⬠, Gentile, Lynch, Linder, and Walsh(2011) studied effects through mediational pathways and observation. Six hundred and seven 8th- and 9th-grade students from four schools participated. Adolescents who expose themselves to greater amounts of video game violence were more hostile, reported getting into arguments with teachers more frequently, were more likely to be in volved in physical fights, and performed more poorly in school. The researchers usedmediational pathways and found suct that hostility mediated the relationship between violent video game exposure and outcomes. Results are interpreted within and support the framework of the General Aggression Model. In their general article for Psychological Science, Effects of Violent Video Games on Aggressive Behavior, Aggressive Cognition, Aggressive Affect, Physiological Arousal, and Prosocial Behavior: A Meta-Analytic Review of the Scientific Literature, Anderson and Bushman(2010) analysed that exposure to television and movie violence suggests that playing violent video games will increase aggressive behavior. A meta-analytic review of the video-game research literature reveals that violent video games increase aggressive behavior in children and young adults. Experimental and non-experimental studies with males and females in laboratory and field settings support this conclusion. Analyses also reveal that exposure to violent video games increases physiological arousal and aggression related thoughts and feelings. Playing violent video games also decreases prosocial behavior. In his research article, ââ¬Å"Effects of Video Games on the Behavior of Male Childrenâ⬠, Oaks(2000-2009) stated from all his studies, he proves that video games do have both positive and negative behavioral effects on male children, as well as causing neurological behavior changes. Video games have a positive behavior effects one of them being building self-esteem. Children who have psychological problems have low self-confidence. Results show that male children who play video games for a prolonged time do not have problems being able to socialize with other children. But the results also show that male children who play video games for a prolonged period of time have problems with being patient, and also show signs of aggression Synthesis: The related literature have proven that Video Games both have positive and negative effects on the academic performance and behavior of children and adolescents. Gentile, Lynch, Linder, Walsh (2011), Anderson and Bushman (2010), and Oaks (2000-2009), concluded that prolonged or overexposure to video games will result to increased aggression and hostility, and poorer academic performance. Although, Oaks (2000-2009)also conclude studies show that Video Games increase the social ability of children who play video games. His studies show that children who played longer than others, showed more self-confidence and more self-esteem than the latter. Thus, further studies on the effects of Video Games on the behavior and study habits should be conducted to show the effects of theses Video Games in the average student of Philippines Chapter 2: Methodology Design The study used a qualitative descriptive research to know the effects of video games to study habits and behavior of High School students of DBTI ââ¬â Makati. Selected students were given a questionnaire for the research. Participants One hundred thirty six students participated in this study. This was conducted in DBTI ââ¬â Makati High School Department. Summary of Act 1 Essay Example For Students
Summary of Act 1 Essay The first scene opens with a long soliloquy from the main character, Richard, who informs us that the country is at peace under his brother, Edwards, rule. Richard, however, finds peacetime pleasures unwelcoming, partly because he is is not shaped for sportive tricks (line 16) and rudely stamped (line 14). Because he cannot find a lover, his main intention is to be a villain. To progress, he has set his elder brothers, King Edward IV and Clarence, in dispute with each other, and he expects to see Clarence imprisoned shortly. Clarence is brought under armed guard on his way to the Tower of London, where he is to be held. Richard expresses sympathy for his brother, blaming Queen Elizabeth and her family for Clarences arrest. He promises to negotiate with Edward to get Clarence released. When his brother is led away by Brakenbury, Lord Hastings enters. He has just been released from the Tower. He tells Richard that Edward is sickly, weak and melancholy (line 136), and that his doctors fear for his life. When Hastings leaves, Richard uses dramatic irony to outline his plans to have Clarence killed before Edward dies. He is also determined too marry the Earl of Warwicks daughter, Anne, who was formerly engaged to Prince Edward, who was Henry VIs son. We will write a custom essay on Summary of Act 1 specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Henry VIs body is being taken for burial. Lady Anne accompanies the hearse (line 2). She is mourning for her husband, Edward, as well as his father, Henry VI. She curses Richard, who was responsible for both deaths. When he enters the scene, she condemns him as inhuman, unnatural and as an extremely evil butcher. Richard defends himself, saying that he committed the murders because he loves Anne and wishes to marry her. Initially, Anne is disrespectful of, and disgusted, by Richard. She spits on him, but as he continues to woo her, she finds it impossible to resist him. When Richard offers her his sword so that she may take revenge on him, she finds that she cannot be his executioner (line 189). Richard asks her to wear his ring, swearing that he will be a devoted husband, and says that he will visit her after he has seen Henry buried and has wet his grave with his tears. Anne is glad to observe his penitence and leaves the scene feeling willing to her skilful wooer. Richard is overjoyed. He celebrates in his talent as a lover and ironically suggests that he is a normal man after all. Elizabeths brother, Lord Rivers, and her son by her first marriage, Lord Grey, attempt to comfort the queen, but she is concerned about the fate of her family if Edward dies. Richard is to be recognised as Protector, and she knows that he is her enemy. Buckingham and Stanley have been visiting Edward, who is in good spirit, despite his poor health. Elizabeths heart remains heavy; she cannot bring herself to believe that a settlement is really possible. Richard bursts in complaining that he has been distorted by the lewd complaints (line 61) of the queen. He is resentful about the progression of her relations. He accuses Richard of having Clarence and Hastings imprisoned and insults her. While Elizabeth and Richard quarrel, Queen Margaret enters. She reminds everyone of Richards crimes, interrupting the argument to condemn the people who were responsible for overthrowing her husband, Henry VI. They all respond with accusations of their own. Margaret is not put off from her purpose though. She curses each of the characters in turn and predicts their destruction. She warns the crowd against Richard. .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .postImageUrl , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:hover , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:visited , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:active { border:0!important; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:active , .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u5655d500c7af34e4782a72cb58f6bbad:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Animal Farm and 1984 EssayWhen she leaves, Buckingham and Rivers seem surprised, however, Richard is calm. He says that he regrets everything that he has done wrong. He then returns to the controversial topic of Clarence. Just as the bickering resumes, Catesby arrives. Edward wishes to see Elizabeth. Richard uses dramatic irony again to tell everyone that he is very satisfied with the trouble that he has caused. He sends out two murderers to the Tower, warning them not to listen to Clarences appeals. Imprisoned in the Tower, Clarence describes a terrible dream he has had to his keeper. He dreamt that he was sailing to Burgundy with his brother, Richard, who stumbled on deck and pushed Clarence overboard. Clarence paints a terrifying picture of the slimy bottom of the deep (line 32) and the tempest to my soul (line 44) that occurred while he was drowning. He asks the keeper to sit by him for a while because he is frightened and wishes to sleep. Brakenbury, Lieutenant of the Tower enters, shortly followed by the two murderers, who announce that Clarence must be handed over into their hands. Brakenbury seems to fear the worst, but lets down his charge. The second murderer is unsure of himself. He fears damnation. His lack of certainty affects the first murderer, whose conscience is awakened. By this point, the second murderer has found his courage, claiming that conscience makes men cowards. The two men decide to drag Clarence into the next room and drown him in a butt of malmsey. Their victim wakes up. The murderers hesitate but Clarence guesses why they have come. He urges them not to kill him because it is unlawful, and because murder is a sin. The murderers remind Clarence of the crimes he committed during the war. When Clarence tells them to go to his brother Richard, who, he says, will reward them for saving his life, the murderers tell him the truth that it was not Edward but Richard who sent them to kill him. Again, Clarence urges the murderers to give in and save their souls, but it is too late. He is stabbed and dragged out by the first murderer. The second murderer is full of remorse; the first knows that he will not be safe when Clarences death is discovered. When he has buried the corpse and collected his reward, he will flee.

Thinking About Pursuing a Graduate Degree in History
Thinking About Pursuing a Graduate Degree in History Are you considering a masters or doctoral degree in History? The decision to pursue graduate study in History, like other fields, is a complex one that is part emotional and part rational. The emotional side of the equation is powerful. The pride of becoming the first in your family to earn a graduate degree, being called Doctor, and living a life of the mind are all tempting rewards. However, the decision of whether to apply to graduate programs in History also entails pragmatic considerations. In a difficult economic climate, the question becomes even more perplexing. Below are a few considerations. Remember that this is your choice - a very personal choice - that only you can make. Competition for entry to graduate study in History is stiff. The first thing to recognize when it comes to graduate study is that it is competitive. Admissions standards for many graduate programs, especially doctoral programs, in History are tough. Peruse applications for the top Ph.D. programs in the field and you may encounter warnings not to apply if you do not have a particular score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Verbal Test and a high undergraduate GPA (for example, at least a 3.7). Earning a Ph.D. in History takes time. Once you enter graduate school you may remain a student longer than you intend. History and other humanities students often take longer to complete their dissertations than science students do. Graduate students in History can expect to remain in school for at least 5 years and as many as 10 years. Each year in graduate school is another year without full-time income. Graduate students in History have fewer funding sources than science students do. Graduate study is expensive. Annual tuition typically ranges from $20,000-40,000. The amount of funding a student receives is important to his or her economic well-being long after graduate school. Some History students work as teaching assistants and receive some tuition remission benefits or a stipend. Most students pay for all of their education. In contrast, science students are often funded by grants that their professors write to support their research. Science students often receive full tuition remission and a stipend during graduate school. Academic jobs in History are hard to come by. Many faculty members advise their students not to go into debt to earn a graduate degree in History because of the job market for college professors, especially in the humanities, is bad. Many humanities PhDs work as adjunct instructors (earning about $2,000-$3,000 per course) for years. Those who decide to seek full-time employment rather than reapply for academic jobs work in college administration, publishing, the government, and non-profit agencies. Historians' skills in reading, writing and argumentation skills are valued outside of academia. Many of the negative considerations in deciding whether to apply to graduate school in History emphasize the difficulty of obtaining employment in academic settings and the financial challenges that come with graduate study. These considerations are less relevant for students who plan on careers outside of academia. On the positive side, a graduate degree offers many opportunities outside of the ivory tower. The skills that you will hone as you pursue your graduate degree are valued in virtually all employment settings. For example, graduate degree holders in History are skilled in reading, writing, and argumentation. Each paper you write in graduate school requires that you compile and integrate information, and construct logical arguments. These information management, argumentation, and presentation skills are useful in a variety of settings such as business, nonprofits, and government. This quick overview of pragmatic considerations in determining whether graduate study in History is for you highlights some of the challenges, but your academic and professional career is yours to make. Students who plan, take advantage of an opportunity and remain open to considering a range of career options increase the odds of a graduate degree in History paying off in the long run. Ultimately graduate school decisions are complex and highly personal. Only you are aware of your own circumstances, strengths, weaknesses, and goals - and whether a History degree fits into your life story.

Susan B. Anthony, Womens Suffrage Activist
Susan B. Anthony, Women's Suffrage Activist Susan B. Anthony (February 15, 1820ââ¬âMarch 13, 1906) was an activist, reformer, teacher, lecturer, and key spokesperson for the woman suffrage and womens rights movements of the 19th century. Together with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, her lifelong partner in political organizing, Anthony played a pivotal role in the activism that led to American women gaining the right to vote. Anthony was born in Massachusetts on February 15, 1820. Her family moved to Battenville,à New York when Susan was 6 years old. She was raised as a Quaker. Her father Daniel was a farmer and then a cotton mill owner, while her mothers family had served in the American Revolution and worked in the Massachusetts government. Her family was politically engaged and her parents and several siblings were active in both the abolitionist and temperance movements. In her home, she met such towering figures of the abolitionist movement as Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison, who were friends with her father. Education Susan attended a district school, then a local school set up by her father, and then a Quaker boarding school near Philadelphia.à She had to leave school to work to assist her family after they suffered a steep financial loss. Anthony taught for a few years at a Quaker seminary. At the age of 26, she became a headmistress at the womens division of the Canajoharie Academy. She then worked briefly for the family farm before devoting herself full-time to activism, making her living off of speakers fees. Early Activism When she was 16 and 17 years old, Susan B. Anthony began circulating anti-slavery petitions.à She worked for a while as the New York state agent for the American Anti-Slavery Society. Like many other women abolitionists, she began to see that in the ââ¬Å"aristocracy of sexâ⬠¦woman finds a political master in her father, husband, brother, son.â⬠In 1848, the first Womenââ¬â¢s Rights Convention in the U.S. was held atà Seneca Falls, New York, launching the womens suffrage movement. Susan B. Anthony was teaching and did not attend. A few years later in 1851, Susan B. Anthony met Elizabeth Cady Stanton, one of the Conventions organizers, when they both were attending an anti-slavery meeting also at Seneca Falls. Anthony was involved in the temperance movement at the time. Because Anthony was not permitted to speak at a general temperance meeting, she and Stanton formed the Womens New York State Temperance Society in 1852. Working With Elizabeth Cady Stanton Stanton and Anthony formed a 50-year lifelong working partnership. Stanton, married and a mother to a number of children, served as the writer and theorist of the two. Anthony, never married, was more often the organizer and the one who traveled, spoke widely, and bore the brunt of antagonistic public opinion. Anthony was good at strategy. Her discipline, energy, and ability to organize made her a strong and successful leader.à During some periods of her activism, Anthony gave as many as 75 to 100 speeches a year. Post War After the Civil War, Anthony was greatly discouraged that those working for suffrage for black Americans were willing to continue to exclude women from voting rights. She and Stanton thus became more focused on woman suffrage. She helped to found the American Equal Rights Association in 1866. In 1868, with Stanton as editor, Anthony became the publisher of The Revolution. Stanton and Anthony founded the National Woman Suffrage Association, larger than its rival American Woman Suffrage Association, associated with Lucy Stone. The two groups would eventually merge in 1890. Over her long career, Anthony appeared before every Congress between 1869 and 1906 on behalf of womenââ¬â¢s suffrage. Working for Womens Rights Other Than Suffrage Susan B. Anthony advocated for womens rights on other fronts besides suffrage. These new rights included the right of a woman to divorce an abusive husband, the right to have guardianship of her children, and the right for women to be paid equal to men. Her advocacy contributed to the 1860 passage of the Married Womens Property Act, which gave married women the right to own separate property, enter into contracts, and be joint guardians of their children. Much of this bill was unfortunately rolled back after the Civil War. Test Vote In 1872, in an attempt to claim that the constitution already permitted women to vote, Susan B. Anthony cast a test vote in Rochester, New York, in the presidential election. With a group of 14 other women in Rochester, New York, she registered to vote at a local barbershop, part of the New Departure strategy of the woman suffrage movement. On November 28, the 15 women and the registrars were arrested. Anthony contended that women already had the constitutional right to vote. The court disagreed inà United States v. Susan B. Anthony. She was found guilty, though she refused to pay the resulting fine (and no attempt was made to force her to do so). Abortion Stance In her writings, Susan B. Anthony occasionally mentioned abortion. She opposed abortion, which at the time was an unsafe medical procedure for women, endangering their health and life. She blamed men, laws, and the double standard for driving women to abortion because they had no other options. When a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is a sign that, by education or circumstances, she has been greatly wronged, she wrote in 1869. Anthony believed, as did many of the feminists of her era, that only the achievement of womens equality and freedom would end the need for abortion. Anthony used her anti-abortion writings as yet another argument for womens rights. Controversial Views Some of Susan B. Anthonys writings could be considered racist by todays standards, particularly her writings from the period when she was angry that the 15th Amendment had written the word male into the constitution for the first time in permitting suffrage for freedmen. She sometimes argued that educated white women would be better voters than ignorant black men or immigrant men. In the late 1860s, she even portrayed the vote of freedmen as threatening the safety of white women. George Francis Train, whose capital helped launch Anthony and Stantons The Revolution newspaper, was a noted racist. Later Years In her later years, Susan B. Anthony worked closely with Carrie Chapman Catt. Anthony retired from active leadership of the suffrage movement in 1900 and turned over the presidency of the NAWSA to Catt. She worked with Stanton and Mathilda Gage on what would eventually be the six-volume History of Woman Suffrage. By the time she was 80 years old, even though woman suffrage was far from won, Anthony was acknowledged as an important public figure. Out of respect, President William McKinleyà invited her to celebrate her birthday at the White House. She also met with President Theodore Roosevelt to argue that a suffrage amendment be submitted to Congress. Death A few months before her death in 1906, Susan B. Anthony delivered her Failure Is Impossible speech at her 86th birthday celebration in Washington, D.C. She died of heart failure and pneumonia at home in Rochester, New York. Legacy Susan B. Anthony died 14 years before all U.S. women won the right to vote with the 1920 passage of the 19thà Amendment. Although she did not live to see womens suffrage achieved across the entire United States, Susan B. Anthony was a key worker in laying the groundwork for this change. And she did live to witness the sea change in attitudes that was requisite for universal suffrage. In 1979, Susan B. Anthonys image was chosen for the new dollar coin, making her the first woman to be depicted on U.S. currency. The size of the dollar was, however, close to that of the quarter, and the Anthony dollar never became very popular. In 1999 the U.S. government announced the replacement of the Susan B. Anthony dollar with one featuring the image of Sacagawea. Sources Anthony, Susan B.à The Trial of Susan B. Anthony.à Humanity Books, 2003.Hayward, Nancy. ââ¬Å"Susan B. Consumer Behavior Analysis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 1
Consumer Behavior Analysis - Essay Example The first and foremost thing, of course, is to do market fragmentation; it is a necessary early step while making a marketing plan. To know who the product is for is probably the most important factor to determine before any anything. Another vital factor is to develop the need recognition of the product in the customersââ¬â¢ eye. It is the psychology of humans to recognize something as ââ¬Ëneedââ¬â¢ or ââ¬Ëwantââ¬â¢ before a purchase. Even if it is a ââ¬Ëwantââ¬â¢, the desire to experience it in order to feel better is often subconsciously camouflaged as a ââ¬Ëneedââ¬â¢ as well. This is also referred to as customerââ¬â¢s value perception of the product. (Kotler, P., & Armstrong, G., 1991). Hence, the products should be marketed in a way that the consumers can recognize and acknowledge the need of those items for themselves. It is important to identify what benefit and value are the customers deriving from the products vis-à -vis what the products are offering. For the advertising campaign of the product line, the main proposition can be protection against the harshness of outdoor lifestyle. This proposition creates much value for males considering a common manââ¬â¢s outdoor routine and sun and dust exposure to the skin. Since the product line is only chosen for men, the marketing strategy needs to revolve around the lifestyle of men. This means that the outdoor roughness and rugged routines for men need to be utilized as key factors during marketing. Moreover, the target market of the personal care product line is bracketed for young males who are aged from 18-35. Considering these factors as framework, it is important to distribute focus on each product according to their specific offerings. For instance, the hair-styling gel needs to address its firm nature, wet look, allowing young males to use the gel for any hairstyle - from causal to formal. The face wash and shampoo will address their own offerings, while staying in the same age group of 18-35, along with a
